Nine arrested in operation
Chandel : September 4 : Personnel of the 5th Grenadiers stationed at Chandel raided Lamphu Chiru Anal village about 15 kilometres from Chandel police station and arrested up nine villagers, according to a reliable source. The villagers were at prayers when the security personnel came into the village and searched several houses. All the vilagers were made to gather at the church compound for verification and lateron nine villagers including the pastor were taken by the troops.

Women of the village later on gathered before the office of the Superintendent of Police, Chandel and pleaded for his intervention to release the arrested person.
