BSF
kills four PLA
Imphal,
August 13 : In a major operation codenamed Operation Lalkar
launched by the BSF, four activists of PLA were killed and five
civilians abducted by PLA were rescued yesterday. The operation
was carried out at Dampi and Sagang areas in Churachandpur
district. DIG, BSF Manipur and nagaland told reporters that the
four activists were killed during an encounter. The operation
was launched following information that some militants were
present on the area. The BSF troops surrounded the areas from
the morning. At 3 am yesterday PLA fighters fired at the BSF
personnel at Dampi causing injury to one BSF personnel. During
the encounter five abducted persons were freed. In the seven
hour long gunfight three PLA activists were killed in between
Langja and Kamson while another activist was shot dead near the
site. Another PLA activist was apprehended. Three AK56 rifles,
three magazines, one wireless set and some ammunition were
recovered.

Blockade
at NH 53
Imphal,
August 13 : Supporters of Naga economic blockade intercepted
four Imphal bound passenger buses near Oinamlong area and pulled
down goods belonging to the passengers. About 150 blockade
supporters including women came to the highway and stoped four
buses yesterday. They pulled down all the belongings, of the
travelers from the buses. The goods include bananas, aroids,
betel leaf, sugar, plates, rice, milk powder and readymade
clothes worth Rs. 2 lakhs. The blockade supporters were reported
to be the member of Naga Youth Front.
