Tata
trucks attacked at Kangpokpi
Imphal, August 24 : Suspected KNF activists attacked two
tata trucks at Laikop village in IT road under Kangpokpi police
station at 4.30 am and injured one civilian. The tata trucks
were carrying food and provision from Naga dominated Tamenglong
to another Naga dominated Senapati area. The injured transporter
was S. Kharka Tamang (30), former president of the All Manipur
Gorkha Students Union. The incident occurred when the vehicles
carrying food and provisions were stopped by unidentified armed
person at Laikop Waiting Shed. When the vehicles fail to heed
the warning of the armed person, the gunmen fired
indiscriminately upon the vehicles. The vehicles bore many
bullet holes and Tamang got injured.

Peace
Mission cancelled
Imphal,
August 24 : Proposed peace mission planned by present MLAs
was cancelled in view of shortage of fuel oil and security
escorts. The mission was planned to normalize the ethnic
relationship between hills and plainsmen in the Manipur in the
wake of ceasefire extension beyond Nagaland.

Truckers flay UCM
Imphal, August 24 : The Manipur Transport
Joint Coordianting Committee flays UCM for its passive role in
ongoing economic blockade imposed by Naga Youth Front. The
committee stated that the people of Manipur were being reduced
to a state of starvation and demanded to know what the United
Committee Manipur was doing to resolve the current crisis
arising out of economic blockade launched by Naga NGOs.
