Four killed in militant attack in Assam
Imphal, August 26:
NSCN (IM) militants fired indiscriminately on a limestone-laden truck at Bhuligaon, ten kilometres from here killing four persons, including the driver and the handyman on the spot at around 11.30 yesterday morning. The truck was going to the Bokajan cement factory. The militants also lobbed a grenade which failed to hit the target and exploded on the road. The explosion made a big crater on the road. Earlier reports said that the attack was the handiwork of UPDS.

Meeting of Assam and Nagaland officials
Imphal, August 26:
A conference of the Deputy Commissioners of the Mon and Mokokchung districts of Nagaland and the adjoining Sivasagar district of Assam was held at the Sivasagar Circuit House on August 22. The Superintendents, Additional Superintendents of these districts and the SDOs of the concerned sub-divisions also attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed interalia the improvement of the roads and bridges connecting the two adjoining States, Assam and Nagaland, encroachment of vast areas of Abhoipur Reserve Forest of Assam falling within Sivasagar district and contiguous with Nagaland. The meeting also discussed about the border problems between these two bordering States - Assam and Nagaland.
