Non-residents asked to leave Senapati
Imphal August 27: Non-residents staying in the northern
Manipur district of were told to leave the district by suspected
Naga Youth supporters, according to reports reaching here in
Imphal.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of the district Mr. Kritibash
returned to Imphal yesterday after he recieved threats from some
armed militants.
Today, the Deputy Commissioner met the state Chief Secretary Mr.
Rakesh and proceeded on leave. Reports say, he was told to leave
as his presence is no more required in the district
administration.
Following the incident, the Chief Secretary convened a high
level meeting with top officials to take stock of the emerging
situation.

Two shot dead
Imphal August 27: Unidentified gunmen shot dead two
Meitei Pangals (Muslims of Manipur origin) including a former
insurgent at Malom Lamkhai under the Yairipok Police station
last night, according to police.
The deceased were identified as Md Ayub Khan and Md Abdul Salam
of Yairipok Mayai Keithel.
According to police reports, Md Ayub Khan was a former member of
the banned KYKL (Oken faction).
According to family sources, they were abducted from their homes
by about 14/15 armed persons at 7 pm last night.
