Peace Feast in
Senapati district
Imphal, September 3 : A peace feast was organized in the
Senapati district to maintain communal harmony between the Naga
and Kuki villagers yesterday. The feast was organized in the
Mayangkhang area and participated by chiefs of eight Naga and
Kuki villages. A declaration was made during the feast condemned
the killing of the two schoolboys, both innocents by militants
belonging to the rival communities. The meeting decided to
uphold the spirit of peaceful coexistence in the area.

Restrictions on Outsiders
Imphal, September 2 : Villagers of Lamdeng in the Imphal
West district have imposed restrictions on the entry of the
outsiders into the village during night time, according to a
press release issued by the secretary, Lamdeng Development
Committee. The step was taken up after some unidentified gunmen
claiming to be members of the PLA shot dead one youth
Chingangbam Khelen after abducting him from his residence on
August 27.

Kang Tournament begins
Imphal, September 2 : The 50th Sir Churachand
Singhaji, KCSI, CBE Memorial Knock-out Kang Tournament, 2001 was
inaugurated today at Wangkhei today under the aegis of the All
Manipur Kang Association. The inaugural function was graced by
ex-MP W. Kulabidhu Singh and ex-MLA E. Kunjakeshore Singh as
Chief Guest and President respectively. The tournament will be
participated by 36 teams.
