| The people of Manipur want to preserve
the territorial integrity of the state of Manipur. The erstwhile
princely state of Manipur was merged with Indian Dominion in
1949. Some of the Naga tribes of Manipur want to carve out a
portion of Manipur to form another state in the name of Greater
Nagalim. But the people of Manipur do not agree with the demand
of this section of people. But when the India Government and
National Socialist Council of Nagaland (IM) enter into an
agreement for extension of ceasefire to the state of Manipur,
the apprehension of the balkanisation of Manipur is there. All the sections of the people in both rural and urban
                Manipur protest against the attitude
of the India Government and NSCN (IM). The protest is
participated by representatives of different comunities
including Meiteis, Pangals, Nagas and Kukis. |
